There are numerous benefits for all ages to participate in aquatic exercises. Categorized as a low impact workout in at least waist deep water, water aerobics focuses on strength training and improving range of motion. What’s great about this type of exercise is you can get more resistance in each movement without feeling the extra stress on the joints. Water is about 784 times more dense than air which means any movement done in water provides about 12 times more resistance. This seems like more pain and more work, but the lack of gravity in the water means less strain on your joints – so it’s a win, win! More intensity with a lesser impact on the body.
A couple of other advantages to water aerobics is the increase in muscle strength, flexibility and a decrease in stress and anxiety. In addition, water aerobics has been shown to reduce blood pressure. The motion from the water enables blood flow and efficient circulation which results in a lower resting heart rat
Weather you decide to participate in the water aerobics for health reasons, social reasons, or just because you want to have some fun in the sun this summer, the experience will be rewarding!
